Subject: COVID-19 Situation Report – New Positive Case of COVID-19
I am writing to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 situation in our region.
A member of Sachigo Lake First Nation has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was in Sioux Lookout for care and upon routine surveillance testing to return home the person’s test resulted in a positive. The positive result was discovered while the individual was in transit to their community, the plane was re-routed back to Sioux Lookout. The individual is now self-isolating in Sioux Lookout.
Contact tracing is taking place and those with contact with the individual will be tested and asked to begin self-isolation immediately.
The cases within Eabametoong First Nation have been in self-isolation and nearing completion. There has been no evidence of further spread however we are still waiting for further test results. In Mishkeegogamang First Nation, like Eabametong, no evidence of further spread. We are still waiting on additional test results, but no positive results so far.
