Update April 12, 2021: For those registered to Food Hampter pick up this Wednesday, please DON’T COME TO THE FRONT LOOP, there is construction going on in the building there. Pick-ups will be at the back (between the Matawa Education & Care Centre and the Friendship Gardens).  You take Tarbutt Street off of Victoria Avenue to get there. Looking forward to seeing you there. Please share and spread the word! 

Update April 9, 2021: Matawa’s Food Hamper Give Away will take place on April 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.at the Matawa Education Centre. Please call 768-3315.

Update March 29, 2021: The Matawa Health Co-operative is offering COVID-19 testing. Testing is done in the trailer outside the Matawa Building. Walk-ins are not allowed. Call to book anytime between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday at: 1-833-625-3611 (please not that this line doesn’t operate during lunch).

Update January 22, 2021: Starting Monday January 25, 2021–anyone wanting to enter the 808 winter road network (to Eabametoong, Neskantaga, Nibinamik & Webequie) will need “approval to enter” forms. Matawa offices are temporarily closed until April 17 and essential services will still be available during this time. Matawa provides advisory services/programs to nine member Ojibway and Cree First Nations (eight First Nations in James Bay Treaty No. 9). Matawa is committed to quality assurance and are responsive to our communities’ needs.As per Matawa Chiefs direction, Matawa Fisrt Nations Management will be submitting  a proposal for COVID-19 funding for off-reserve or urban Indigenous organizations and communities on behalf of the member First Nations whose citizens are residing in the City of Thunder Bay.  This will be specific to the communities of Aroland, Constance Lake, Eabametoong, Ginnogaming, Long Lake #58, Marten Falls, Neskantaga, Nibinamik and Webequie
